Police had earlier warned that nobody should stage a protest in Abuja because it is against the law. After the arrest of the IPOB leader, police also warned the public and suspected members of the IPOB from taking part in any illegal activities. The police vowed to attack, arrest and prosecute anyone found protesting in Abuja.
Meanwhile, despite the warning and threat of the Nigerian Police. The members of the IPOB have promised to come to Abuja to take part in Nnamdi Kanu' s court hearing. The group said that they will not stop protecting and representing Nnamdi Kanu and the best way they can represent him on July 26 is through a protest in Abuja. The IPOB spokesman said that the members of the group are not scared of the police and a protest would surely take place on July 26.
During an interview with a news platform, a supporter of the group identified as Nwabueze Omenihu said " We do not fear the Nigerian Police. We are not afraid of them and they can not stop us. We will protest in July and do whatever we wish without being stopped. Nnamdi Kanu must be released because he is not a criminal. He has not committed any crime. The Nigerian government should leave Nnamdi Kanu alone. The supporters of the group will storm Abuja for the protest. "
" They can only threaten and brutalize us the way they always do. they can not stop us from achieving one Biafra. Biafra is a must and we have our right to secession. We don' t want to be Nigerian anymore, we should be allowed to go. They can only kill us but they will not stop us, " he said.
