Buhari approves new appointment

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Adamu Muhammed Abdulahmid as the new Nigeria ambassador to World Trade Organization (WTO) for a period of four years.

Abdulahmid, until his appointment, was a substantive deputy director in the ministry of industry, trade and investment, who took over from Mr Suleiman Adebayo, who returned to Nigeria from Geneva in 2019 after spending 15 years. He is from Kano state.

Buhari speaks on Nnamdi Kanu's arrest

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the collaboration between security agencies on the operations against Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho.

His spokesman, Garba Shehu, said they executed with great synchronization with arrests of individuals who had inflicted pain and hardships on fellow citizens.

Shehu, in a statement, noted that Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leaders are known for murderous actions and virulent messaging.

Area boys, security men in gun battle

Hoodlums, also called area boys, were said to have engaged security men in a gun battle at Apapa in Lagos state.

Daily Post gathered that the incident was duel to illegal activities of the hoodlums in the area.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to newsmen in the area said the joint security operatives arrived at the area, axis of the Mile 2 Apapa expressway to dislodge miscreants allegedly responsible for criminal activities in the area.

Wike accuses FG of trying to rig elections

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has accused the federal government of appointing compromised academics, willing to submit names of politically exposed lecturers as returning officers to rig elections for the ruling party, as vice chancellors of federal universities.

Wike, however, warned VCs and lecturers to be wary of attempts by some unscrupulous politicians to use them to manipulate elections.

He declared that those contemplating to rig elections in Rivers would be treated as coup plotters.

Senate set to consider 2021 supplementary budget

President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, has said that the Senate will on Wednesday, consider president Muhammadu Buhari's N895.8 billion supplementary budget request.

He made the disclosure during Tuesday's plenary after the red chamber received the report of the committee on appropriations on the Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2021.

Bandits attack Kastina, kill 25 person

At least 25 persons have been killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in separate attacks on communities in the Batsari local government area of Kastina state.

Residents said the bandits stormed the area at around 11:30 pm on Monday and operated till the early hours of Tuesday, killing many villagers.

It was learnt that on arrival at the village on motorcycles, the gunmen started shooting sporadically, resulting in the death of the victims.
