A group agitating for the Independence of Biafra known as, Biafra Nations League (BNL), has vowed to go violent in the Bakassi Peninsula which is its based area of operation.
The group warned that no ship accessing the Republic of Cameroon or Nigeria via the coastal line of the Peninsula would be spared.
Princewill Chimezie Richard, the group National Leader, and Linus Asuquo Essien, the Chief of Staff, in a press statement made this known.
BNL stated that the members of the group were running out of patience and could do something that might cause panic in the country.
The secessionist organisation expressed anger with the statements by the Cameroonian President and his Nigerian counterpart, President Muhammadu Buhari, during their meeting in the Federal Capital Territory.
Paul Biya government had praised Nigerian government for second arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
The Bakassi Peninsula based Biafra agitator group vowed to sabotage Nigeria, and Cameroon Bakassi maritime security which will have an impact on the economies of both countries.
The group claimed to be responsible for the interception and confiscation of a ship owned by Benin Republic in the Bakassi in 2016. It said that it requested the release of Nnamdi Kanu then as a condition to let the ship go, adding that such scenario would likely play out again.
They cautioned Biya to refrain from repeating the mistakes of Ahmodou Ahidjo, a former leader of Cameroon.
Their words read: " [Our] militias in Bakassi will start intercepting vessels and apprehending all crew members onboard like we did in 2016/2017.
" We' ll deprive Cameroon from enjoying full sovereignty over the Bakassi Peninsula, [we are] ready to return Bakassi back to full insurgency, " the group added.
" Cameroon is afraid of losing control over Bakassi as a result of the Biafra independence struggle which might lead to insurgency in the Bakassi Peninsula.
" They want to renew their alliance under the Maroua Agreement, they want to gang up against us, but this time they have failed.
" Our members and supporters in Bakassi and other areas are getting angry, those in Bakassi are already making moves to return to the creeks and show this government pepper.
" They are playing with fire, they should be ready to arrest all of us because nothing has changed since the arrest of Kanu" .
