The corpse of Akinkumi Village' s youth leader was brought to Agidigbo Radio Station in Ibadan on Saturday, July 10, 2021, after he was shot and killed by unknown herdsmen in Akinkumi Village.
They were interviewed by Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, a well- known radio broadcaster on Agidigbo FM, and they went into great depth about their experiences.
Mr. Hamzat provided the following account of the incident: "
" Unknown Herdman contacted his elder brother on the phone and informed him that they have cows for sale at Akinkumi, Moniya in Ibadan, Oyo State, according to a little lad who came to our radio station to tell the incident.
Among those who came were his brother' s friend and a motorcycle mechanic. As soon as they arrived at Kara (a town where herdingmen sell cows), they called the herdsman, who instructed them to travel to their village because his father is in possession of the cows for sale there. They were traveling through the jungle when seven unknown herdmen emerged with AK47 rifles.
Okada man fled to Akinkunmi Community, a neighbouring village where he was questioned by the villagers. The Okada man led the way to where the herdsmen attacked them, and the youths in that village, including the Youth leader, followed. It was unfortunate that one of them was shot when they were only a few kilometres away from the destination when they heard the gunshot.
He was also shot by the herdsmen; despite the best efforts of local doctors and nurses, they were unable to save his life, and he died shortly after the bullets were removed from him.
He is currently in the custody of the Moniya Police Department, where one of the herdsmen has been apprehended. "
