On Monday morning, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo- Olu, personally detained a gang of alleged criminals who specialize in targeting motorists and other road users in traffic.
Sanwo- Olu caught the suspects while attempting to rob a driver near Ojota in- bound Alausa, taking the fight against criminality in Lagos to the next level and walking the talk.
The Governor' s passing by convoy intervened in the heist, rescuing the victim from the three machete- wielding crooks who were attempting to violently drag him out of his vehicle at the time.
On Sanwo- orders, Olu' s the governor' s security forces swooped down on the accused and collected the hazardous weapons from them, arresting all three.
After the arrest of the suspect, Sanwo- Olu remarked that the operation was a strong warning signal to other criminal elements and potential traffic robbers in Lagos that there is no safe haven for them and their ilk in the state.
On Thursday, June 10, Governor Sanwo- Olu told citizens that there would be no hiding spot for criminals in the State as he handed over security equipment purchased by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, for use by the Lagos Police Command.
" As our own contribution to long- term national security, we are resolved to stabilize the security situation in Lagos State, " he says.
" Let me also take this opportunity to issue a warning to all armed robbers, kidnappers, cultists, bandits, and other criminals that are active in Lagos State or want to operate here that we will leave no stone unturned in making this State inhospitable to you.
" Wherever you are hiding, we will locate you and bring the whole force of the law to bear on you. "
150 double- cabin vehicles, 30 saloon patrol vehicles, 1, 000 ballistic vests, 1, 000 ballistic helmets, 1, 000 handheld police radios/walkie- talkies, 100 security patrol bikes, two armored personnel carriers (APCs), four high- capacity troop carriers, and two anti- riot water cannon vehicles were among the brand new crime- fighting equipment donated to the Lagos State Police Command.

Babajide Sanwo- Olu allegedly arresting traffic robbers is nothing but a publicity stunt; How come he was on the same route with the robbers, at the same time & with cameras? 2023 elections is fast approaching, politicians are now doing the most to dominate the headlines.
